Originally released in 2004 as a garage kit by the Yuji Sakai Modeling Studio, this work has long been celebrated among enthusiasts. Now reimagined as a fully painted soft vinyl figure, the piece faithfully preserves the original sculpt while joining the acclaimed Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection lineup.
Inspired by the intense battle with Mothra set in the heart of Tokyo in Godzilla:Tokyo SOS (2003), this figure captures the dramatic moment of Godzilla gazing skyward at his airborne foe. Yuji Sakai masterfully brings this powerful scene to life, highlighting the distinctive traits of Godzilla (2003)—from the uniquely contoured neck and sharply extended dorsal fins to the scar across his chest left from the events of Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. Every detail is rendered with exceptional precision, evoking the sensation of a climactic scene lifted directly from the screen.
Drawing upon his deep understanding of the character and extensive reference materials, Sakai has infused this sculpt with remarkable authenticity and presence. The result is a dynamic and faithful three-dimensional interpretation that embodies the spirit and intensity of the film.
Every aspect of this model—from its bold silhouette to its intricate sculptural detail—reflects Sakai’s mastery and dedication to his craft. To preserve the integrity of the original sculpture, the cast prototype was converted into wax to create the master mold. The final product is molded exclusively from this master, minimizing wear during soft vinyl production and ensuring the highest level of detail retention.
